We at Better Boating are located on a beautiful stretch of the River Thames in Caversham, between Sonning Lock and Caversham Lock. We are in an ideal position for visiting some beautiful locations on the Thames such as Goring, Mapledurham, Sonning, Henley on Thames, Wallingford etc. Plus we are only a few minutes along the river from the Kennet & Avon Canal and 2 minutes along the river to Tesco Extra supermarket; and we are only a 10 minute walk away from Reading town centre and the train station.

MOORINGS
At Better Boating, we have secure permanent and temporary moorings on our beautiful mid Thames location in Caversham, just outside Reading. We have facilities for cruisers, narrow boats and wide beams and a secure gated car park and provide winter hard standing for all permanent berths.
CURIO SHOP
Our Curio Shop and Chandlery is open daily from 08:30 until 18:00. Visit our ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of unusual gifts from around the world including: Clothing, hats, shoes, bags, trinkets, fishing equipment, photograph frames, candles, postcards, a fantastic selection of jewellery, books, ornaments, and a wide variety of collectable items and a well stocked chandlery. So why not pop in and take a look around… it is open to everyone!
MAINTENANCE
Better Boating undertake minor reconditions through to full restorations. We offer engineering services, antifouling and blacking. Please contact us for a chat regarding your requirements
CRANING
At Better Boating, we can crane up to 20 tonnes (Narrow boats up to 65′) and we have access for low loaders / articulated vehicles and boat transportation can be arranged. Hard standing available, Lift and hold for survey / prop fouling etc, Engine removal, Fully insured. We are in a central position on the River Thames with easy access to the Kennet & Avon Canal
WORKSHOPS
We have 2 workshop units:- Unit 1 – 46′ x 25′ x 20′ / Unit 2 – 50′ x 12′ x 12′. They are available for short or long term boat restoration projects, Insulated with power & water. Please contact us for the workshop rates.
